Cayman fishing crew rescued

The Cayman fishing vessel Cod Verne and its crew are safe.

The Cayman Islands Coast Guard confirmed earlier today that the fishermen have been rescued.

The fishing vessel Cod Verne is safe and currently under tow en route to Roatán, Honduras.

This successful outcome was made possible through strong international cooperation and coordination.

The Cayman Islands Coast Guard extended sincere gratitude to the vessel Cortez One, the Central American Air Navigation Agency, the Honduras Merchant Navy, and the United States Coast Guard District Seven Rescue Coordination Center.

Each organisation played a critical role in ensuring the safe recovery of the fishermen on board.

This rescue operation stands as a clear reminder that, even when unable to deploy assets directly to the Cayman Islands, the Coast Guard remains fully capable of fulfilling its search and rescue obligations.
