‘Distinguished’ bikers ride for cancer
A group of Cayman riders hopped on their motorcycles on Sunday, 18 May to raise money as part of the global initiative known as the Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride.
Participants were encouraged to polish their boots and to dress in dapper fashion for the ride, which takes place in more than 1,000 cities in 108 countries. More than 125,000 riders around the world took part in this year’s event.
US$60 million has been raised for the cause since the Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride was established in 2012. One rider in Ontario, Canada raised more than $61,000 on his own this year.
Gilbert Nicoletta, the host of the Cayman ride, said a group of about 18 people — including a couple of women — took part in the ride around Grand Cayman that started and ended at Heroes Square.
