From Diesel to Renewables – The Shift in Cayman’s Energy Future
CUC says during the summer months, people’s electricity bills are higher because of increased usage, even though their fuel cost has decreased. CUC is looking to wean off its reliance on diesel fuel. The energy company is looking into natural gas as the price is not as volatile compared to diesel. The Cayman Islands Government has a plan to have 70% of the country powered by renewable energies, a plan CUC is in agreement with.
