Opposition calls for transparency on avian flu response
The opposition party is calling for government to make its national avian flu response plan public.
Opposition Leader Joey Hew says Cayman has to get ahead of this situation and has called for more transparency in how the virus is being handled.
Hew and MP Roy McTaggart addressed the issue on government radio earlier on Wednesday, saying press briefings should have been held with updated information.

Avian flu in Cayman: The risk to pets and other animals
The Department of Agriculture is urging all pet owners, farmers and backyard flock keepers across the Cayman Islands to closely monitor their animals for signs of illness, following the confirmation of avian flu in West Bay.
Officials say any unusual behaviour, sudden deaths or symptoms in birds or other animals should be reported immediately and residents are being reminded not to dispose of dead poultry in household bins under any circumstances.
