Sustainable healthcare takes centre stage

Sustainable healthcare was the focus of this year’s Healthcare Conference — a three-day event dubbed Healthy People, Healthy Planet.

A number of speakers and diverse presentations featured at the event at The Ritz-Carlton. Outgoing Chief Medical Officer Dr Nick Gent identified key issues in Cayman’s healthcare, including extreme hidden poverty, what he calls a flawed insurance-based healthcare system, and private healthcare predicated on profit. He also suggested ways these challenges can be addressed.
