Political vandals

The signs of political candidates continue to be vandalised. This morning in East End, the word DANGER was sprayed over incumbent MP Isaac Rankine’s sign, with an X over his face.

Residents say the defacing happened between midnight and 6am. This is not the only candidate in East End who has experienced their signs being vandalised. Political challenger Gueva Richards has had the same sign vandalised twice and says this behaviour is unacceptable.

The Elections Office says any candidate experiencing vandalism on their signs should contact the police.

According to the Penal Code, vandals can face fines of $5,000 and up to five years’ imprisonment. Depending on the cost of the damages, this can increase to $10,000 and 10 years in prison.
