Thieves use backhoe in attempted ATM heist
Police are looking for thieves who used a backhoe in a failed bid to make off with cash from a Credit Union ATM in Savannah in the early morning hours of 5 Oct.
A press release by the Credit Union said the ATM sustained no damage and no cash was lost. However, the building sustained unspecified damage.
In their press release, the RCIPS said they responded to the Countryside Shopping Plaza just before 4:45am.
“Information suggests that someone driving and operating a heavy equipment vehicle attempted to gain entry to the Credit Union’s Automated Teller Machine (ATM) by damaging the glass and concrete structure,” the police statement said.
