Immigration amendment plans announced
The government has announced plans for sweeping reform to immigration laws.
Expected changes include establishing a national workforce database, proposed revenue-generating measures, updates to the permanent residency point system, and improved information sharing across ministries and agencies.
According to the Minister for Caymanian Employment and Immigration, the new legislation is expected to be titled The Caymanian Protection Act.

A Trinidad and Tobago financial giant has launched a bid of more than US$82 million to take complete ownership control of Cayman National Bank.
Republic Financial Holdings, which already owns almost three-quarters of the Cayman entity, said it was prepared to buy up the remaining 10.59 million ordinary shares at US$7.75 apiece.
