Between January and June 2026, there were 4 cases of HIV recorded by the HSA. This is a decrease of 6 compared to the year prior. In 2025, there were 23 cases by the end of the year. The Red Cross assists HSA and Cayman AIDS Foundation by spreading awareness and engaging in education campaigns.
A Caymanian man is facing charges for his alleged role in helping wanted man Michael Gollab flee the Cayman Islands. The man, whose name has not been released, was arrested along with Gollab in Jamaica late last month.
He returned to the Cayman Islands where he was arrested upon arrival. He has since been released on bail.

Cayman’s farmers struggling with heat and dry weather
Cayman’s farmers are reporting damaged crops and reduced production as unusually hot and dry conditions take a growing toll on local agriculture.
Although the Cayman Islands National Weather Service says the Islands are not officially experiencing drought, farmers and backyard growers are already feeling the effects of a significant rainfall deficit, extreme temperatures and a rapidly strengthening El Niño.
