One week after a devastating earthquake struck Colombia, its impact is being felt more than 1,000 miles away in Cayman, where longstanding family ties are turning a distant disaster into a deeply personal one.
Members of Cayman’s Colombian community have relatives and friends caught up in the destruction, including some who have lost their homes, while a local relief drive is gathering food, clothing, medical supplies and other essentials for those affected.
