Police seize substantial amount of ganja in checkpoint stop
Police seized a “substantial” quantity of ganja after stopping a car at a checkpoint on Thursday night, 21 Aug.
The RCIPS said officers had detected a “strong scent of ganja” coming from the vehicle when it stopped at the checkpoint on Yacht Drive shortly after 9:40pm.
When the officers conducted a search of the vehicle and its occupants, they recovered multiple packets of suspected ganja.

Police issue warning over scam bank text message
Police are warning members of the public about a new phishing scam that involves individuals receiving text messages purporting to come from Cayman National Bank.
The SMS message claims that the recipient’s bank account has been frozen due to unusual activity, and advises the person to click a link to regain access.
“This text is fraudulent and clicking the link can result in your personal information, including banking details, being obtained by scammers,” the Royal Cayman Islands Police Service’s Cyber Crime Unit said.
