Referendum results to be reviewed and processed
The government is moving forward following April’s referendum results on decriminalising cannabis and introducing a national lottery.
Premier André Ebanks announced in Parliament that the Law Reform Commission will review both matters and provide recommendations on legal frameworks, licensing, safeguards, and social impacts.
Voters supported the decriminalisation of cannabis with just over 55% voting “yes”, while the lottery proposal received 51% support. Ebanks said the government is committed to respecting the will of the people. A report is expected by October.
